Description
Doubles Firered is an improved version of the Firered game that introduces exciting double battles from the third generation. This improvement hack retains all of the original game mechanics and offers players the opportunity to experience the special features of the double battles introduced in the first generation of Pokemon games.
About Generation 3 Double Battles
Generation 3 Double Battles are distinctive compared to later generations of Double Battles. Especially from Generation 4 onwards, there is a significant mechanical difference that fundamentally changes the way Double Battles are played.
A unique feature of Generation 3 is that it is the only generation with double battles in which there is no physical special split. Additionally, spread moves like Hyper Voice only deal 50% damage instead of 75% in later generations. However, moves that hit all Pokemon on the field, like Earthquake and Explosion, have no spread reduction, making them particularly powerful.
When a Pokemon faints in Generation 3 Double Battles, another Pokemon is immediately sent into battle, allowing for interesting strategies. For example, if you knock out an opposing Pokemon. If you hit it, it might switch to another one that you can now attack before it has a chance to attack you. Ideally, you can even get the legendary four-month kill in just one move.
Speed control is also different in Generation 3 than in later generations, as it has no trick room or tailwind. This makes moves like Icy Wind and weather-determining moves particularly effective. Additionally, Swift Swim and Chlorophyll can be used to achieve a Discount Tailwind, which can be pretty fun.
Finally, in Generation 3, held Berries are consumed at the end of the turn, meaning you can hit and kill a Pokemon twice before it uses up its Sitrus Berry. In future generations, the Sitrus Berry could be consumed between hits, allowing the Pokemon to survive both hits.

Additionally, the learning sets have been adjusted to reflect the primary game mode of doubles rather than singles. This means that the coaches also have new teams that make for more exciting doubleheaders. Players will experience powerful boss fights against gym leaders and rivals, and all trainers use Champion AI to ensure consistent behavior and interesting fights.
